Homemade Almond Milk Recipe

Save money and make your own non dairy milk!

Hey fellow Vegans!

Today I want to talk about non-dairy milk. As many of you already know, today there is a huge variety of vegan milks you can buy at your grocery stores. I really a lot of them and I think they are a great addition to your diet! What doesn’t make me happy though, is the price of some of these products – especially almond milk can be quite pricey!

Fortunatley there is a solution! Make your own almond milk :) This is easier than you might think – you only need almonds (of course), salt and a blender.

I usually start by soaking about 50grams of almonds in the evening so I can enjoy my almond milk the next morning. You just put them in a bowl and cover them with water and let them sit overnight.

The next morning I take the almonds out of the water and peel their skin by gently squeezing them. This takes a little pracitce, but is really easy and quick once you learn the technique. This is how they should look after peeling their skin:

The next step is just adding your blanched almonds, a pinch of salt (I always use my himalaya pink salt) and water to your blender and mix for about two minutes.

If you want, you can pour your freshly made almond milk through a metal strainer or a cheese cloth to remove any little almond pieces that may remain in the milk. I don’t do this, since I like the texture of them, but you may want to do this if your blender isn’t that powerful.

You see, it’s actually really easy to make your own non-dairy milk and the best thing about this recipe is the price: This is way cheaper than buying pre packaged almond milk in the grocery store and I personally like this even better! You can experiment with other nuts too – I heard Cashews make a great milk too. If you try this, please let me know in the comment how it went :)  I hope you will enjoy this recipe as much as I do!
